Fostering Innovation - So your intellectual property is protected and your discoveries benefit the public
OCCD supports research development and commercialization of University intellectual property. Focusing on the protection and transfer of intellectual property through license, confidentiality and material transfer agreements, the OCCD is the bridge between researchers and commercial entities. From Oregon-based startups to large international companies, the OCCD facilitates OSU research to impact the world.
Guiding submissions, negotiations, awards - so your research is supported
OSP has central responsibility for proposal submission for sponsored research, scholarship, instructional and other activities at Oregon State and research compliance as it relates to sponsored activities. OSP balances service to OSU faculty and staff, university administration, and the numerous organizations that sponsor Oregon State University activities. Functions include proposal review, monitoring institutional compliance with terms and conditions, official institutional signatory, policy and procedure development, training, compliance activities related to research administration, and general funding opportunity assistance.
Ensuring compliance with regulations - so your progress is unencumbered
ORI works with OSU faculty, staff, and students to help assure proper conduct of research in areas pertaining to the use of human subjects, and non-human vertebrate animals. The office also works with faculty and Academic Affairs to identify and appropriately manage issues that could be perceived to present financial conflicts of interest. A wide array of research activities are governed by federal and state laws and regulations. OSU manages these through a number of compliance committees.
Enhancing opportunities - so you can build upon your successes
Several programs sponsored by the Research Office provide funding for seed programs, emergencies, time releases, capital equipment, and undergraduate research.
Outreach is important to Oregon State's land grant mission. University resources are available to help faculty integrate impact components into research projects.
The Office of Pre-College Programs offers a wide range of opportunities for faculty to participate in, including school-year and summer programs, camps, and field trips. In some of Oregon State's higher-education pipeline programs, graduate and undergraduate students serve as mentors for high-schoolers, who in turn mentor elementary and middle-school children.
