Research that drives big solutions and innovations
At Oregon State our research and innovation drives economic, workforce and community development to fuel a thriving world. The Division of Research and Innovation collaborates with faculty researchers, students and industry leaders in transdisciplinary teams across the sciences, engineering, arts, social sciences and humanities to create equitable, sustainable prosperity in Oregon, across the U.S. and beyond.
At the Division of Research and Innovation, we continue to prioritize our four research focus areas for investment and growth, with artificial intelligence, research computing and data sciences underpinning much of our work in climate science, clean energy, robotics, and integrated health and biotechnology. We look forward to continuing to advance research and innovation at OSU—Oregon’s research university.

We're leading the way
In 2025, we topped $400 million in research expenditures for the second straight year. This metric is just one indicator of our research productivity. And a remarkable feat given the reduction in federal awards.
Oregon State remains a recognized leader in discovery in a wide range of areas, including environmental resilience, energy systems and smart infrastructure, intelligent systems and robotics, and healthy aging and biotechnology. The Division of Research and Innovation is excited to employ research computing, data sciences, robotics and AI to continue to bolster our work in these areas.
