The AXA Research Fund was launched in 2007 to support science in responding to some of the most pressing societal issues and risks. Through this program, AXA, a leading insurer, is committed to supporting science in order to contribute to societal progress and better inform decision making. The AXA Research Fund supports projects in the broad risk areas of health, climate and environment, and socioeconomics.

Guidance for the preparation of Notice of intent to the Research Office: 

INFOREADY FORM: Prepare the following information to enter in this InfoReady form:

  • PI name, title, and contact information
  • Descriptive Proposal Title
  • Project Summary: 3 or 4 sentences or bullet points that provide an overview of the objective(s) of your proposed project, how you plan to do it, and the expected outcome.
  • Team: 5 or 6 sentences or bullet points that highlight team expertise as it relates to the project.
  • Budget: Example: The total cost of the project is anticipated to be $ X, with $ Y being requested from the Agency. Agency funds will be used for: $ A for personnel; $ B for operations, and $ C for broader impacts/subcontracts etc.
  • Submission history, prior contact, and funding history with the foundation

PROJECT DESCRIPTION (1 page pdf to upload) - please use an 11 point or higher font with one-inch margins.

Please provide a clear and concise statement free of technical jargon, including:

  • Statement of need. Explain what issue you are addressing, why you have chosen to respond the way you have, and why the project matters in the area you are working.
  • Research question(s) and how the project will address the research question(s) (if applicable). How will the proposed research lead to the advancement of research/knowledge in this area?
  • Proposed activities. Describe the activities to be undertaken, timelines, and the role of project team members and partners. Highlight why your approach is novel and deserving of the special attention funding connotes.
  • Outcomes. Describe the outcome you anticipate from the project and any plans for evaluating those outcomes. How do these outcomes align with the sponsor mission?
  • Abbreviated CV or biographical sketch of the principal investigator – separate page
  • Optional - Suggest one or two names to serve on the internal review committee.
