One proposal per Topic/Subtopic for the following:

  • Topic Area 1: High Voltage Direct Current for Offshore Wind
    • Subtopic 1a: HVDC Standards and Benchmark System Development for Offshore Wind
    • Subtopic 1b:  Multi-Terminal HVDC Controls and Functional Requirements
    • Subtopic 1c:  HVDC Curriculum Development for Education and Workforce Training
  • Topic Area 2:  Advancing Deployment of Distributed (ADD) Wind

Please note that topics 3 and 4 are not subject to institutional limits on concept papers and full submissions as long as each submission is distinct (see FOA for details.)  Proposals to Topic Areas 3 and 4 do not need to submit internally via this limited submission process.

The general guidance for the preparation of the notice of intent to the Research Office:

COVER SHEET (1 page) -please use an 11 point or higher font with one-inch margins.

  • Solicitation Name and Descriptive Title
  • Topic or Subtopic: Please specify
  • Project Summary:  3 or 4 sentences or bullet points that provide an overview of the objective of your proposed research, how you plan to do it, and the expected outcome.
  • Key PI/co-PIs:  5 or 6 sentences or bullet points that highlight team expertise as it relates to the project.
  • Budget:  Example:  The total cost of the project is anticipated to be $ X, with $ Y being requested from the Agency.  Agency funds will be used for: $ A for personnel; $ B for operations, and $ C for broader impacts/subcontracts etc.

Problem statement: Clear and concise statement of

  • Research question(s) and how the project will address the research question(s);
  • Proposed activities: Describe the project to be undertaken and provide the technical specifications of the research activities and timelines that will be undertaken.
  • How the proposed research can lead to the advancement of research/knowledge in this area.
  • Expected results: Describe the outcome you anticipate from the research.
  • Abbreviated CV or biographical sketch of the principal investigator – separate page
  • Optional - Suggest one or two names to serve on the internal review committee.
