Research Office Notice of Intent Deadline:  03/06/2023
Agency Deadlines: 05/09/2023

Given the institutional level of commitment proposed, please reach out to research.development@oregonstate.edu ahead of the internal Notice of Intent deadline to discuss possible Research Office involvement.

The general guidance for the preparation of the notice of intent to the Research Office:

COVER SHEET (1 page) -please use an 11 point or higher font with one-inch margins.

  • Solicitation Name and Descriptive Title
  • Project Summary:  3 or 4 sentences or bullet points that provide an overview of the objective(s) of your proposed project, how you plan to do it, and the expected outcome(s).
  • Key PI/co-PIs:  5 or 6 sentences or bullet points that highlight team expertise as it relates to the project.
  • Budget:  Example:  The total cost of the project is anticipated to be $ X, with $ Y being requested from the Agency.  Agency funds will be used for: $ A for personnel; $ B for operations, and $ C for broader impacts/subcontracts etc.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION (1 page) - please use an 11 point or higher font with one-inch margins.

Problem statement: Clear and concise statement of:

  1. Vision: Describe your compelling long-term vision at the institution for nurturing and growing translational research capacity and processes, building on the momentum gained from the ART funding, including potential partnerships?
  2. Capacity-building activities for longer-term impact: What is the case that current level of fundamental research efforts at the proposing institution(s) benefiting are high, but the level of translational research activities and the associated translational research capacity is low?
  3. Institutional commitment.  How will institutional level activities boost research translation capacity and infrastructure well above the current level?
  4. Education and training: What is the plan for evidence-based training and education of postdoctoral researchers and graduate students in translational research activities to help them be successful in pursuing non-academic career pathways?
  5. Specific project-level activities in the short term: Describe your approach to Seed Translational Research Projects (STRPs).  How will you ensure that STRPs selected will be successful in translation? How will initial and future cohorts of ambassadors be selected for the STRPs and continue to be supported in the future?
  6. Diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility: How will diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility be demonstrated in the short- and long-term activities and in a holistic fashion?
  7. Evaluation. How will you evaluate ART project impact?
