ADVANCE: Organizational Change for Gender Equity in STEM Academic Professions  (ADVANCE)

Brief Summary:  The Partnership* track supports projects designed to result in the regional or national diffusion and/or scale-up of evidence-based systemic change strategies. Partnership projects are expected to involve two or more partners. Partnership projects must be designed to have a significant reach to individuals and/or organizations with evidence-based systemic change strategies to enhance equity for STEM faculty in academic workplaces and the academic profession.

Limit on Number of Proposals per Organization: 1  - OSU may apply to the Partnership Track

  • Eligible IHEs can submit one proposal to IT-Preliminary, Adaptation, OR Catalyst. IHEs can also be a partner on one or more Partnership proposals.
  • Eligible Non-profit, non-academic organizations can submit one proposal to the Adaptation competition and be a partner on one or more Partnership proposals.
  • IHEs and non-profit, non-academic organizations may be partners on multiple ADVANCE Partnership proposals in the same competition but can be the lead organization only on one Partnership proposal in the same competition.
Research Office Notice of Intent Deadline: 
  • Monday, June 7, 2021 - this deadline is passed.  Read LSO guidelines - this is now in the first to notify guidelines.

Agency Deadlines:
  • Letter of Intent Deadline (required):  Monday, August 2, 2021
  • Full Proposal Deadline:  Wednesday, November 3, 2021

 

The general guidance for the preparation of notice of intent to the Research Office:

COVER SHEET (1 page) -please use an 11 point or higher font with one inch margins.

  • Solicitation Name and Descriptive Title
  • Project Summary:  3 or 4 sentences or bullet points that provide an overview of the objective of your proposed research, how you plan to do it, and the expected outcome.
  • Key PI/co-PIs:  5 or 6 sentences or bullet points that highlight team expertise as it relates to the project.
  • Budget:  Example:  The total cost of the project is anticipated to be $ X, with $ Y being requested from the Agency.  Agency funds will be used for: $ A for personnel; $ B for operations, and $ C for broader impacts/subcontracts etc.

Problem statement: Clear and concise statement of

  • Research question(s) and how the project will address the research question(s);
  • Proposed activities: Describe the project to be undertaken and provide the technical specifications of the research activities and timelines that will be undertaken.
  • How the proposed research can lead to the advancement of research/knowledge in this area.
  • Expected results: Describe the outcome you anticipate from the research.
  • Abbreviated CV or biographical sketch of the principal investigator – separate page
  • Optional - Suggest one or two names to serve on the internal review committee.
