Mallinckrodt Biomedical Research Grants

Any domestic biomedical institution, whether solely research or educational,  is invited to submit one candidate for the Mallinckrodt Board's consideration. The mission of the Foundation is to support early stage investigators engaged in biomedical research that has the potential to significantly advance the understanding, diagnosis, or treatment of disease.

Each institution is allowed to submit one proposal.

  • Agency Deadline - 8/1/2020

Applicants should be in the first to fourth year of their tenure track faculty position and not have current R01 funding. 

Grants are usually $60,000 and funding commences on October 1. No indirect costs are allowed. Salary is acceptable.

  • Solicitation Name and Descriptive Title
  • Project Summary:  One page that provides an overview of the objective of your proposed research, how you plan to do it, and the expected outcome.

Use 1-2 pages with the following:

  • Project Significance:  highlight how your research/approach is different/better.
  • Explain: How you will measure the effectiveness of your work, specifically Indicating criteria for success and the results you expect to have achieved by the end of the funding period
  • Peer Groups: Who else is doing something similar, why their discoveries are useful for you, and what discriminates you.
  • Budget:  Example:  The total cost of the project is anticipated to be $ X, with $ Y being requested from the Foundation.

Suggested Reviewers: (1 page) Optional – but as you write envision who might be a reviewer of your proposal or the Program Officer.
