The National Science Foundation (NSF) has provided updated guidance on their Broader Impacts review criterion. While the core tenet—benefiting society—remains the same, the focus has shifted. NSF is now emphasizing Broader Impacts activities that build on national priorities and expand capacity through universal access. The goal is to maximize the reach and impact of your research on a national scale. The Office for Research Advancement is hosting a Campus Conversation on the Changes to NSF Broader Impacts.

Please join the Office for Research Advancement for our 2025-2026 events, which include ROCC and ROLL events:

ROCC (Research Opportunity Campus Conversations): ROCC events are designed to foster dialogue between OSU researchers and the Division for Research and Innovation. ROCC events often feature panels of experienced faculty and research administrators, offering practical advice into specific funding agencies or research priorities, along with opportunities for networking and collaboration.

ROLL (Research Opportunity Learning Labs) events offer hands-on, skills-based training and workshop series for OSU researchers. These Learning Labs are designed to build capacity in areas such as grant proposal writing, budget development, team science, and research impact planning.
