Human Research Protection Program and Institutional Review Board
Human Research Protection Program and IRB
The Human Research Protection Program (HRPP) and Institutional Review Board (IRB) support OSU’s commitment to research by working to protect the rights and welfare of human subjects who participate in research; promoting the ethical principles of respect for persons, beneficence, and justice; and by assisting the OSU community in ensuring compliance with the standards set forth in the Common Rule (45 CFR 46) by the Department of Health and Human Services.
All research projects involving human subjects must be submitted for review. Projects must be approved by the IRB or receive an exempt determination prior to the initiation of any study activities, including recruitment or analysis of existing data. If you are preparing a new submission, please take a moment to review this information to ensure your application is “Review-ready” to help facilitate a shorter turnaround time.
